Innovative and Forward-Thinking
Meridian Energy Group Inc. is constructing innovative and environmentally-advanced oil refineries in strategic locations adjacent to shale oil production fields. These facilities will utilize state-of-the-art technologies and control systems to provide the first greenfield clean fuels facilities in the U.S. in over four decades. They will be energy efficient with very low emissions, producing ultra low sulfur gasoline, diesel and other fuels in compliance with all current or foreseeable EPA standards. The Davis Refinery in North Dakota is already the first full-conversion refinery ever permitted as an EPA synthetic minor source.
These facilities are designed to be process efficient, with low capital cost and will be capable of net zero carbon by utilizing supplemental renewable feedstocks. Incoming energy from the local power grid, natural gas from nearby production fields and zero water discharge will provide low operating costs and energy reliability. The facilities will be equipped with advanced digital technologies including a full digital twin to monitor and optimize operations in real time. By utilizing all new state-of-the-art equipment and controls, the refineries will be the cleanest, safest and smartest ever built in the U.S.
Davis Refinery
Meridian is building a state-of-the-art crude oil refinery sited on approximately 150 acres (and additional acreage for buffer) in Billings County east of the Fryburg Rail Facility in Belfield, North Dakota – the heart of the Bakken. At a rated capacity of up to 49,500 barrels per day (“bpd”), Davis could produce as much as 800mm gallons per year of refined products from local crude to serve regional markets.
Permian Refinery
There will be up to 100 new direct hire jobs created at the Meridian Permian Refinery. Job creation studies by the State of Washington for refineries located in Anacortes, Washington, show a job multiplier effect of up to 12:1. If the same held true in Winkler County, this means there will be total job creation, including indirect and induced jobs, of up to 1,200 new jobs for the local community.
