Company recognized for its innovation and history-making accomplishments in the energy sector

HOUSTON, Texas, BELFIELD, North Dakota, IRVINE, California, – September 28, 2020 – Meridian Energy Group, Inc., the leading innovator in the petroleum refining industry, has been recognized as a finalist for the 2020 Global Energy Award of Excellence – Downstream Category, among the most innovative and influential organizations in the energy industry.

S&P Global Platts looks to recognize exceptional operational and financial performance in a dynamic downstream sector, and companies that challenge perceptions of what a downstream company does, adjusting to changing currents and new ways in which the world operates.

This accomplishment acknowledges Meridian’s unique and innovative approach to financing, construction, management and operation of the cleanest refineries in the world.  Meridian’s flagship modern refinery, the Davis Refinery being developed in Belfield, ND, is the first greenfield refinery to be built in the US in more than four decades.  This first-in-a-generation undertaking by Meridian has proven that the integration of 40+ years of innovation and technology enables Davis to meet Class 1 Air Quality standards, and realize its status as a Synthetic Minor Source – the first time in history a full-conversion refinery has attained this designation.
