Meridian Energy Group, Inc. mourns the passing of our colleague, friend and Senior Risk Management Advisor, John Cloward. Prior to joining Meridian Mr. Cloward was employed by ConocoPhillips as their Senior Project Risk Analyst and Risk Manager.

John  enjoyed an impressive career having worked for several major energy firms, including Exxon, and with major energy consulting firms, providing quantitative assessment of uncertainty in project design, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and start-up, resulting in more realistic schedule and cost targets and avoidance of overruns. John provided cost savings and more efficient utilization of resources through developing risk mitigation measures, monitoring uncertainties, controlling risks, and planning & allocating contingency.  John’s expertise in risk mitigation measures supported Meridian’s initiative to take a leadership position in Environmental, Social and Governance issues, setting a new standard for the downstream industry. He was a proud graduate of the United States Naval Academy and received an MBA from the Anderson School at UCLA.

He maintained an active life of faith and service through his Church, volunteering for many of its community outreach and support programs. He was also active in the Boy Scouts of America serving as a Scout Committee Chair and other posts for over 44 years.

As one of Meridian’s original investors, his industry experience led him to quickly recognize the industry changing opportunities Meridian presented, his unwavering support and invaluable advice will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of working with him.

John is survived by his wife Jacqueline of 43 years, their 5 children and 9 grandchildren.
